Access Statement

 

Introduction

At Packridge Farm we aim to cater for the needs of all visitors. The following statement is a summary of our provision in The Dairy building, The Ayrshire and Clotted Cream Self Catering Apartments. If you have any specific questions please feel free to call us and we will endeavour to help.

 

Pre-Arrival

  • There is a regular bus service from Southampton to Romsey and Winchester. The bus stop is at the end of our lane which is about one third of a mile walk to the main gates of the farm.
  • Romsey train station is 10 minutes away and Southampton train station is about 20 minutes by car.
  • There is a local taxi service that has accessible taxis if required; we can make a booking for you.
  • Information and menus can be provided in large print by prior arrangement.
  •  We have a basic website.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

  • On Arrival to the property there are double entrance gates, these are always open.
  • There are no marked parking bays but there is ample room for all cars to park directly in front of The Dairy and The Ayrshire.
  • The surface is fairly level, flat and gravel. There is a footpath made of concrete which covers the length from the parking to the front entrance.
  • We can assist guests with luggage.

 

Main Entrance & Reception

  • There is a step to the front door , for those with walking difficulties registration can take place in yur accommodation
  • Reception is on the ground floor.
  • The door to reception is sometimes locked. The lock cannot be reached from a wheelchair so please ask if you require assistance.
  • On entry to reception there is a hallway 3 metres wide.
  • No public WC available

 

Public Areas – General (Internal)

  • The Dairy – there is a concrete ramp to the front door and there is wheelchair access (tried and tested).
  • The Dairy is a single storey building.
  • The front door is sometimes locked and guests are given two keys on arrival one for their room or apartment and the other to access the front door. The lock cannot be reached from a wheelchair so please ask if you require assistance.
  • On entry to The Dairy there is a hallway 1.4metre wide.
  • The main areas are slate and laminate flooring.
  • Both bed and breakfast rooms are on the ground floor.
  • The hall and sitting/dining area are of good colour contrast and are well lit.
  • Dog water bowl and food bowl (and food if requested in advance) are available on request.

 

Reception and Breakfast Room

  • No public WC available.
  • Breakfast is served in the main farmhouse on the ground floor. There is one step up at the entrance and a further four steps into the breakfast area.
  • Furniture is flexible and can be moved on request.
  • Tables have under space of 67cm high. At the present time all chairs are without arms.
  • Menus can be provided in large print by prior arrangement.

 

Double Cream and Churned Butter Bedrooms

  • Both rooms are double bedrooms and are on the ground floor with good access to both sides of the bed. Double Cream is the larger room and has a four poster queen bed. Churned Butter has a queen bed that can be converted to a twin. Double Cream is at the end of the hall and there is no turning into the room. The bedrooms are carpeted throughout and the en suite shower facilities have tiled floors.
  • Furniture is moveable on request.
  • Televisions with remote control and DVD players in both rooms.
  • Two armchairs and one upright chair are provided in Churned Butter
  • One armchair and one upright chair are provided in Double Cream.
  • Churned Butter has approximately 55cm between the wall and each side of the bed (the bed does move so 110cm total space is available to one side).
  • Good contrast in decor in both rooms.

 

Double Cream and Churned Butter En suite Shower Rooms

  • Door width 76cm, inward opening.
  • Free floor space 95cm x 170cm.
  • The shower cubicle has a step/edge of 14cm high.
  • The basin is flat fronted and has a clear under space. It is 86cm high.
  • The toilet is 46cm high.
  • Good colour contrast of floors, walls, fittings and fixtures.

 

The Ayrshire

  • Access to the apartment is either by a two steps or by a slope to the front door.
  • The front door is kept locked and guests are given two keys on arrival one for the unit and the other to access the main Dairy building.
  • The front door opens directly into the lounge and dining and area of the unit.
  • The unit is of good colour contrast and are well lit. There is wood laminate flooring throughout.
  • Television with remote control and DVD player. There is one swivel large double sofa bed.
  • A door leads from the lounge area to the dressing room. Door width 76cm, inward opening.
  • A door leads from the dressing room to the shower room. Door width 76cm, inward opening.
  • The bedroom area has a low king size bed. There is sufficient access to both sides of the bed with between 30 and 60cm on each side of the bed. Furniture is moveable on request.
  • Free floor space 300cm x 420cm.
  • The shower cubicle has a step/edge of 14cm high.
  • The basin is flat fronted and has a clear under space. It is 86cm high.
  • The toilet is 46cm high.
  • Good colour contrast of floors, walls, fittings and fixtures.
  • There is laminate tiling throughout.
  • A dog water bowl and food bowl (and food if requested in advance) is provided for all our canine guests.
  • From the kitchen a door leads on to a small wooden terrace with 3 open tread steps down to the rear garden
  • All kitchen cupboards are under the work surface
  • Free floor space in the kitchen area 330cm x 150cm.

 

Clotted Cream

  • Access to the apartment is by a flight of open tread wooden stairs and is therefore unsuitable for wheelchair users or those who are unable to climb stairs.
  • The front door is kept locked and guests are given two keys on arrival one for the apartment and the other to access the main Dairy building.
  • The front door opens directly into the lounge, dining and kitchen area of the apartment.
  • The lounge, dining and kitchen area of the apartment are of good colour contrast and are well lit. There is wood laminate flooring throughout.
  • Television with remote control and DVD player. There is one swivel armchair and double sofa bed.
  • A door leads from the lounge area to the bedroom.
  • The bedroom has a king size bed that can be converted to a twin. There is good access to both sides of the bed with 60cm on the side closest to the wall. The bedroom is carpeted throughout. Furniture is moveable on request.
  • A door leads from the bedroom to the bathroom.
  • Door width 76cm, inward opening.
  • Free floor space 95cm x 170cm.
  • The shower cubicle has a step/edge of 14cm high.
  • The basin is flat fronted and has a clear under space. It is 86cm high.
  • The toilet is 46cm high.
  • The bath is 68cm high and has Jacuzzi jets.
  • Good colour contrast of floors, walls, fittings and fixtures.
  • There is laminate tiling throughout.
  • A dog water bowl and food bowl (and food if requested in advance) are available on request.

 

The Dairy Games Room

  • There is a concrete ramp to the front door and there is wheelchair access (tried and tested).
  • The Dairy is a single storey building.
  • The front door Dairy lock cannot be reached from a wheelchair so please ask if you require assistance.
  • On entry to The Dairy there is a hallway 1.4metre wide.
  • The main areas are slate and laminate flooring.
  • The hall and sitting, games areas are of good colour contrast and are well lit.

 

Laundry

  • There is a drying area in the housekeeper’s room at the end of The Dairy building or in the utility room under Clotted Cream apartment. For self catering guests it is possible to use your drier in the area to the rear or front of your unit.
  • There is a washing machine in the utility room under Clotted Cream for use by self catering guests only. Detergent can be provided for a small cost.

 

Shop

  • The nearest shop is 1.5 miles away.

 

Leisure Facilities

  • There is a swimming pool for use in the summer and a hot tub that can be used all year round. The Dairy lounge area has a snooker table.

 

Outdoor Facilities

  • The farm is set in ten acres of pasture and gardens and there is a further twenty five acres of grazing and woodland on the other side of the lane. Guests can wander anywhere during their stay with us but need to bear in mind that only the maintained gardens are suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

 

Conference & Meeting Rooms, Banqueting, Clubs, Entertainment

  • Not available at the present time.

 

Additional Information

  • Assistance dogs are welcomed and guests with animal allergies need to be aware that we are a pet friendly establishment.
  • Mobile phone reception is generally good.
  • The front door of The Dairy, main house, and self-catering units are used for evacuation in the event of fire or other emergency. If the source of the fire is close to the door then evacuation can be via the windows. If you require more assistance for evacuating please notify us on arrival and we will ensure you are evacuated safely e.g. hearing impairment.
  • We are happy to take delivery of hired equipment.
  • We are a no smoking establishment.
  • Your fridge has a water filter for chilled water. If you require further chilled water or ice this is available from the bar/terrace fridge.
